Blue Note Youth Diving

We are often asked about diving with kids in Cozumel. The minimum age for a certified diver is 10 years old and Cozumel is a great place for diving of all ages. The 2-tank morning dive is our most popular for certifed divers, if you are not certifed yet then the Discover Scuba may be right for you.

We have 2 Discover Try Scuba Programs at Blue Note Scuba. If you have never tried scuba before we have the shore dive experience. This dive is led by a PADI Instructor at a protected bay where they will learn all about scuba equipment, safety, learn and practice scuba skills then a shallow dive. If they have dove before and are ready for the boat Discover Dives then we can schedule 2 dives on our afternoon trip. On this excursion they will learn about equipment, safety, skills, environment and have 2 dives with a PADI Instructor.

The Junior Open Water Diver course is similar to the adult certification program but with smaller teacher-to-student ratios and shallower depth limits. To enroll, kids must be age 10-15 years old and able to swim.

To ensure that young divers don’t exceed their limits, the Junior Open Water certification comes with restrictions. Divers aged 10 and 11 years old must dive with a PADI Professional or a certified parent or guardian, and dives cannot exceed 12 meters (40 feet). Divers aged 12 years to 14 years old must dive with a certified adult and dives cannot exceed 18 meters (60 feet) in depth. Get certified today for a lifetime of adventures.
