Cozumel Reef Closures 2024

Cozumel’s vibrant coral reefs are among the most cherished natural wonders in the world, attracting thousands of divers each year. However, with increasing environmental concerns and the need to protect these delicate ecosystems, Cozumel will see several reef closures in 2024. Whether you're a seasoned diver or planning your first underwater adventure, it’s essential to stay informed about these closures to ensure a safe and responsible diving experience.

Temporary reef closures have proven effective in the past, allowing damaged coral to heal and reducing the stress on marine ecosystems. By limiting human activity in these areas, authorities hope to preserve the rich biodiversity that makes Cozumel such a unique and beloved destination for divers.

Each month a portion of the reefs in Cozumel close to protect the habitat. This map will show you which reefs will be closed on selected months.
